As part of my designer portfolio, I took on the wine label design project for IL Monte Aglianico, a premium red wine brand. The objective was to create an elegant and captivating label that reflects the brand’s essence and appeals to sophisticated wine enthusiasts.
Introduction
IL Monte is a fictional wine brand producing Aglianico, a red wine known for its rich flavors and exclusive geographical origin on Mount Vesuvius. The target audience is upscale restaurants in Mayfair, making the label design crucial in capturing their discerning clientele’s attention.
Client Background
Create a visually stunning wine label that embodies elegance, authenticity, and timelessness.
Showcase the wine’s exclusive geographical origin through a captivating illustration of Mount Vesuvius.
Design a label that aligns with the preferences of upscale restaurants in Mayfair.
Design Process
Research: I extensively researched Aglianico wine, Mount Vesuvius, and premium wine label designs to understand the wine’s unique characteristics and the visual elements that would resonate with the target audience.
Concept Development: I explored various design concepts and sketched ideas on paper. After careful consideration, I settled on a minimalist and elegant approach, putting emphasis on the Mount Vesuvius illustration.
Prototyping I used Figma to create digital prototypes of the wine label design. This allowed me to experiment with different layouts, typography, and colour schemes while maintaining a clear vision of the final design.
Illustration: Using Adobe Indesign, I crafted a stylized illustration of Mount Vesuvius, capturing its iconic silhouette and emphasizing its geographical significance. The illustration became the focal point of the label.
Typography: To achieve the desired balance of modernity and classical elegance, I utilized Adobe Fonts (Poppins and Trajan Pro 3) for the wine name “IL Monte Aglianico” and the varietal “Aglianico.”
Layout and Composition: I used Adobe InDesign to combine all design elements and create a cohesive label layout. The black and white colour scheme for the letters added a touch of luxury and sophistication.
Final Outcome
The finalized wine label design for IL Monte Aglianico exudes elegance and exclusivity. The minimalist approach, combined with the captivating Mount Vesuvius illustration, effectively communicates the wine’s unique geographical origin. The use of Adobe Fonts enhances the label’s typographic appeal, complementing the overall design concept.
Conclusion
The IL Monte Aglianico wine label design project showcases my skills as a designer, utilizing Figma, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Fonts to create a visually stunning and sophisticated label. The project successfully meets the objectives, appealing to the target audience of upscale restaurants in Mayfair and demonstrating my creativity and attention to detail in branding and packaging design. This case study stands as a testament to my ability to create compelling designs that resonate with clients and consumers alike.
